Handicrafts of Lanzarote.

The ingenuous local craftwork is worth noting, ceramic and earthenware vessels. oil-lamps and pottery fashioned with primitive instruments or by hand, in the same way as by the earliest inhabitants of the island. Due to their originality we must mention the figures of the island. Due to their originality a couple with very developed sexual attributes. These figures were formerly exchanhed between engaged couples.

In Teguise the famous "Timples" are made, a popular musical instrument similar in form to the "cuatro" of Venezuela, but considerably smaller. The embroidery, rosettes, and lace are also very interesting as are the "sombreros" made of palmetto which are a characteristic of the countryfolk.
