| Fuerteventura is
the canary island nearer the African continent, only 100 km of distance
from the Cabo Jubi. It offers to those who visit it, 340 kms of
coasts with 82 kms of beautiful beaches and coves. It is the longest
island of the Canary Islands, the less explored, and the one where
the greater native population concentrates and maintain their traditions
alive.
Here in Fuerteventura everything is contrasts,
dreamlike white sand beaches, turquoise colored waters, lava fields,
mountains, valleys and palms, old towns and goats in freedom make
this landscape an incredible and magical image.
Fuerteventura is between 28º 45' 04'' and 28º 02'
16'' of 24 12 north latitude and 13º 49' 12'' and 14º 30' 24'' of
west longitude. It is the longest island of the archipelago, uniting
the north and south ends we counted approximately 100 kilometers.
It is also the second island in size, 1660 km2, only surpassed by
Tenerife.
Fuerteventura is one of the islands that integrates
the archipelago of the Canary islands. On the origin of the archipelago
exists several theories, all of them, in greater or smaller measurement,
concludes in a volcanic origin. Lately a theory is settled down
that speaks of a combined origen of volcanic eruptions and the rise
of the oceanic crust, product of the pressure of the African plate
with the Atlantic plate.
The island does not have high altitude, the highest
point is "Pico de la Sarza" with 807 meters above sea level, located
to the south of the island, in the Peninsula of Jandia. With little
relief, the montainous formations are few in the island, the most
outstanding is "Pico de la Atalaya" 672 meters above sea level.
In Fuerteventura we enjoy the freedom of amplitude,
1660 km2 to know, around 3 000 hours of sunshine a year to enjoy
and an average temperature of 23º. We can also enjoy the entertainment
such as fishing sports, water sports, aquatic parks, a beautiful
marina and the best water for diving in Spain. And if you desire
to fly over the waves you should know that Fuerteventura is the
