The climate is semi-desert in Fuerteventura, which the sun predominates almost all year; the island is often influenced by the dominant trade winds, because of their elongated orientation, in the same direction of the wind, and its low altitude fails to retain the mass of moist air that this carries, also near the area of high pressure from the Azores determines the climate in Fuerteventura. The prevailing winds are from NE or N.
Rainfall is scarce, being more common from September until May. The winds are mild during the fall and winter and a bit stronger in spring and summer.
Temperatures throughout the year range between 19.6 and 18.8 º C º C, and the relative humidity between 19% and 38%. The degree of heat stroke is fairly high, being the annual average of 2,800 hours of sunshine. The water temperature ranges from 17 º C and 23 degrees Celsius in surface.
