Lanzarote is situated 2000 km from the Spanish mainland and only 100 km from the west coast of Africa. It has a surface area of 900 km2 with a distance from north to south of 60 km and east to west some 20 km. Due to the way in which the island has been sympathetically developed it has been nominated as one of the few world Biospheres.
The island has many points of interest, from north to south: El Mirador; Green Caves y los Jameos del Agua; Valley of 10.000 Palms (Haría); Cactus Gardens; Monumento al Campesino; Timanfaya National Park, el Golfo y Los Hervideros.
