Being an island of very small distances, almost 86 kms long, it is advisable and most essential to travel to the 7 municipalities that compose the island and also home to places of great tourist interest and socio-cultural development.

Haría (17 kms)

 Much of the town, with over 106 square kilometers and with almost five thousand inhabitants, can be viewed via the road in the north, through the Valleys (Teguise) passing “Santuario de las Nieves”, “Las Peñas del Chache” (highest peak on the island), visiting the the small forest, the only wooded area of the island.

Continuing on the north skirting the cliffs of Famara, from the heights of Chinijo Archipelago you have a great view.

Descending by the southeast side we find the town Órzola, place of emnbarque to visit “Graciosa”. Then we meet Cueva de los Verdes and Los Jameos and other coastal towns: Punta Mujeres and Arrieta.

San Bartolomé (11,5 kms)

San Bartolomé, Located on the west side of the mountain Mina, was San Bartolomé the most important town of the old natives of the island, Los Majos, before the discovery of the  Canary island. Currently reflected in its museums the handy crafts of the ancient inhabitants, in the “Museo del Campesino”.

Towards the north, the territory of jable, which has circulated Fama to the southern beaches, leading to crops that take advantage of the benefits of the sea.
To the south arises the valleys of La Geria, dotted with small villages as a contrast to San Bartolomé and the only outlet to the sea from the  town is Playa Honda.

Arrecife (13,5 kms)

Today Arrecife is the capital of the island with more than 30,000 inhabitants.
Located near the islet of Fermina you find the beach Reducto in which different sports activities are organized (Voleiball, Canary Islands struggle, soccer, swimming, canoeing, etc..)

The great night life is on the street Jose Antonio where you find everything from quiet cafes, pubs with variated music, salsa, karaokes, etc.

Tías (21,5 kms)

Tías, which extends with over eleven kilometers of coastline and an area of nearly 65 square kilometers, is the first town that was incorporated into the development of tourism and has the main tourist area: Puerto del Carmen
The municipality has specialized in the services sector, including cultural, as the activity that takes place in the municipal theatre.

Tinajo (17 kms)

It is an excellent agricultural town: it has served as pasture for cattle and gives all forms of crop. In this town is located La Santa Sport Club complex, one of the best in the world, in fact many elite athletes come to the complex every year. With nearly 30 miles of coastline with several beaches, low coast, which is used to surf. Regarded by some as one of the pointers in Europe for practicing this sport.

Yaiza (27,5 kms)

With 212 square kilometres and nearly nine thousand inhabitants. Located across the south of the island.

 Honored many times for her pulchritude thanks to the dedication of its people in the conservation of the village.

In recent years, Yaiza, its population has increased and this is mainly because the people of Playa Blanca has established itself as the third tourist enclave on the island.
And it is not for less, as in Playa Blanca and little meters from the village, one can enjoy the best beaches on the island: Papagayo, Playa Quemada, Flamingo, etc. Essential is the visit to the Natural Park of Timanfaya.

The port of Playa Blanca connects several times a day, by sea, the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, a half-hour tour.
