Playa Blanca Lanzarote.

Lanzarote. May, 21, 2012.

In addition to Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca is one of the touristic towns of Lanzarote, it is the last to develop and is on the south coast of Lanzarote, in the town of Yaiza.

Ten years ago, Playa Blanca was a small fishing village, today it is an established touristic area with sandy beaches and a warm and fun pedestrian avenue.

The Port of Playa Blanca is still very current, used by the local fishermen and ferries of Naviera Armas and Fred Olsen, linking Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, these companies offer an excellent service, keeping together the two islands and set sail from the port every 30 minutes in a pleasant journey between 25 and 35 minutes.

Playa Blanca is currently one of the preferred destination for those visiting Lanzarote, offers calm beaches, an active commercial area in the village, the modern Marina Rubicón, incredible sunsets with a view to the island of Fuerteventura and Lobos and the most famous beach in Lanzarote, "Papagayo Beaches", with fine white sand overlooking a beautiful turquoise green sea, these beaches are located in the Protected Park Los Ajaches, free of pollution and protected from urban interventions.

Nearby Playa Blanca, the main touristic attraction in Lanzarote is “Parque Nacional de Timanfaya” (National Park of Timanfaya). Other touristic attractions in Lanzarote worth visiting are “Las Salinas Janubio”, “Los Hervideros”, “El Charco de los Clicos”, the town of El Golfo, which is famous for its variation in restaurants, and according to what they all say on the island, for the best fresh fish.

An important antecedent of Playa Blanca is its hotel offer, is the newest of the Canaries, mainly hotels of 4 and 5 stars, newly built hotels all worthy of a visit, some of them are jewels of architecture and decoration.

The commercial and entertainment offers can be found in the village area, in three distinct streets. The meeting point to recommended is the roundabout linking the Avenida del Varadero street with Limones street and Papagayo Avenue. The commercial street in Playa Blanca is Calle Los Limones, extensive street on the second line of the sea, born at the roundabout mentioned above and ends at the Port parking lot.

On this street we find several shops, banks, properties, restaurants, bars and supermarkets. The Papagayo avenue is also a commercial street, born at the roundabout mentioned earlier, shops exists only on the sidewalk north to La Lapa Street and the Papagayo mall, connecticut this avenue with the promenade in front of Golden Beach(Playa Dorada), giving those who enjoy the beach access to shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Finally, we point out that there is trading on the promenade from the port to the beach that gives its name to the town. In this street we will find mostly restaurants, mostly Spanish and canarian food, although we have noticed that the international food restaurants are increasing rapidly.

The entertainment that Playa Blanca offeres is represented by three beaches and Marina Rubicon. The beaches are attractive in different ways which makes them different, Playa Flamingo is a family beach, ideal for children under 8 years because it presents no waves, well decorated with green areas dominated by palm trees, rest areas and reastaurants.

Playa Dorada(Golden Beach) is a very entertaining beach, the people who visit it usually spend the whole day here, a beach recommended for families, children and youth, it is very busy but it is also very broad, there is leisure, diving, paracraft, banana sky bus, jet sky, and so on.

The bars and restaurants are found in Papagayo mall, just in front of the beach. Finally Playa Blanca, is a small beach, but without open waves, is at the center of the shopping area and the promenade, its excellent location makes it a very busy beach, the people who visit it do it only for a few hours, to relax, go for a swim or a walk after eating in one of the restaurants.

Playa Blanca is a quiet, beautiful and a modern touristic destination, which still retains the existing identity of Lanzarote. If this is the place you have chosen for your holidays, you should know that the hotels here are the most modern of the canary, you will enjoy of spectacular views of the horizon, unforgettable sunsets, clean and well-kept beaches.

Playa Blanca is the ideal place to relax, entertainment and to learn about the wonders hidden in Lanzarote.
