BODEGAS LA GERIA LANZAROTE

In the natural site of La Geria, near to National park of Timanfaya, we find landscapes truly unique. Covered with a black volcanic ashes layer that spreads all over the valley, we can admire the natural beauty of this landscape, formed after the eruption of several vulcans (1730-1736) and later adapted by men driven by their survival instincts and their need for the use of their environment.

Wine Cellar
The La Geria wine cellar is one of the most important in Lanzarote and even the Canary islands. It is located right in the heart of the main wine producing area in Lanzarote. Built by the end of the nineteenth century by Rijo family, it has experienced crucial technologic improvements after 1993’s takeover by its current owners, allowing the production of high quality wines. First to offer visits to their wine cellar and directly sell their wines, ‘La Geria’ is today a must to anyone visiting the area. Currently the wine cellar can produce 450,000 liters, mainly using steel tanks and also some oak barrels.
